It is our pleasure to welcome attendees to the 2nd IEEE International Symposium on Wireless Vehicular Communications (IEEE WiVeC'2008).

After a successful first WiVeC edition in Baltimore with over 130 registrants, the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society its continuing WiVeC with a second edition co-located with IEEE VTC-Fall 2008. With the aim to capture the current wireless vehicular communications research and technological developments, the symposium will feature two keynote speakers from distinguished industrial and academic representatives, two industrial and academic panels, 3 oral sessions and a posters and demos session.

We have accepted 24 papers from 55 submitted papers with 15 papers being presented orally and 9 papers as posters; there will also be 7 demonstrations. The papers cover the full range of wireless vehicular communications: physical layer; protocol design; and applications, systems and experiments. We would like to thank all authors who submitted their work to WiVec. All submitted papers have been thoroughly and independently reviewed by at least 3 reviewers in accordance with standard blind reviewing practices. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all TPC members and external reviewers for providing timely and high quality reviews.

Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the work and dedication of all the organizing and technical committee, and the support from the VTS.
